New iPods: A quick review

Yesterday Apple launched some new iPod models. To avoid bothering your with all the fuss, here comes a very brief summary of what´s available now:

iPod Classic: Our old friend with new colors, finish (Aluminum) and more capacity (80 and 160 Gb). Still has a hard disk. White iPod is now gone.

iPod Touch: Basically it´s an iPhone without phone features. 8 and 16 Gb flash-memory-based versions.

iPod Nano: Nicknamed “Phatty”, but it´s really slim and small, sports a video capable screen and aluminum instead of plastic. 4 and 8 Gb flash-memory storage.

iPod Shuffle: No important changes, aside of new colors and aluminum finish. The Product () red is now available. Still 1 Gb.

Some Comments: No mind-blowing launch. I was expecting a touch iPhone with more storage, but 16 Gb?. Many features scattered among many models. There´s no a “Super iPod” that comprises all of them. WiFi Itunes Store is now available to purchase and download music directly to the device, without using a computer (only for iPod Touch, the one that has wireless capabilities) . No comments about the Starbucks deal since I don´t know if this is gonna be available outside the USA. I´m curious about the behaviour and durability of the touch screen in the long run. For all you detail freaks, further information is available here.
